The Lib Dems in 2025

We’ll be very busy, the last few months we’ve been meeting, planning and strategizing. There’ll be more to see here. For now, we’ve made progress with the Dog Friendly Beach Campaign (https://www.facebook.com/southenddogfriendlybeach). I wrote to our new MP David Burton-Sampson about two months ago and he responded yesterday and it’s actually quite hopeful!

He said the council are reconsidering a beach for us dog people. To counter Nature England, who had blocked East Beach, they may ban dogs on Two Tree Island which makes a lot of sense because of all the flocking and nesting birds there.

Chalkwell/Cinder Path is also on the cards, but I think we should get a petition together from people around there who are in favour to counter those who are against. Just have to be organised.

Anyone who lives in the Chalkwell willing to get a petition together?

So the campaign goes into 2025 with some hope of progress!

Labour and the Lib Dems are in coilition in the Southend-on-Sea City Council right now so the time is right for us to work out this solution.

What’s a LibDem to do now?
We’ve a number of social events going on, so come along, all welcome.

Southend United deserves better. See here for the Shrimper’s Trust’s latest statement. https://www.shrimperstrust.co.uk/latest-news/statements/

Grays Athletic FC, were without grounds when theirs was sold to developers in 2010. But now they have their own again. I don’t want that to happen to Southend United, but there is some comfort in knowing this year Grays Athletic FC got their own grounds. Maybe a shrimp can rise from the ashes like a phoenix too? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-66900687
